Avic purpurea spiderlings begin quite small at about 0.5" leg span. They may be the most common spider in which hobbiests struggle to maintain. As with other avics, we recommend keeping them on dry substrate, with top and side ventilation, and with a water dish. We use centrifuge vials in our housing vials for water.
As these spiderlings grow, they become hardier and more forgiving of husbandry conditions. So, anytime a larger avic is available, we would say it is more likely to thrive. We are now offering multiple sized purpurea spiderlings.
0.5" - these are second instar spiderlings recently hatched
0.75" - these are 3rd-4th molt
1"+ - these are 5th-6th molt, pictured
