Lily White Crested Geckos
🌿 What is a Lily White Crested Gecko?
The Lily White is a co-dominant genetic morph of the crested gecko (Correlophus ciliatus), first discovered through selective breeding. It was originally produced by Lily Exotics (hence the name) and has since become one of the most sought-after morphs due to its bold, creamy white coloration.
🎨 Appearance
-
Coloration: Lily Whites have creamy to bright white markings that can cover large portions of their body. These markings contrast beautifully with the darker base colors (like brown, orange, or red).
-
Pattern: The amount and distribution of white varies—some are heavily patterned with thick, creamy streaks, while others may be more subtly marked.
-
Fired vs. Unfired: Like all crested geckos, Lily Whites can change in intensity depending on mood, temperature, and time of day. A “fired up” Lily White shows its colors most vividly.
🧬 Genetics
-
Co-Dominant Trait: This means breeding a Lily White to a normal (non-Lily White) can still produce Lily White offspring.
-
Lily White × Lily White? Not recommended. Breeding two Lily Whites together can produce “super” Lily Whites, which are usually non-viable (they often don't survive past hatching). Responsible breeders avoid pairing two Lily Whites for this reason.
