The Monocentropus balfouri (Socotra Island Blue Baboon) is an Old World terrestrial tarantula. Its femurs and abdomen are covered in a creamy sable brown color that matches perfectly with the midnight blue coloring on its legs and carapace. The Monocentropus balfouri is the best example of a communal species. Although there is no literature to back up their status as a “true” communal in the wild, in captivity these tarantulas tend to “look” after each other. There is always a risk to keeping more than one tarantula together.
