The Brachypelma emilia (Mexican Red Leg) is a New World terrestrial that is semi-fossorial. This species is an excellent choice for beginners as it is docile and hardy. A males life expectancy ranges from 6 to 8 years while the females are known to live up to 25 years. This spider sports a tan carapace with the tan coloring also showing under the patellas.
